Youth Court

Youth Courts are programs where youth sentence their peers for minor delinquent and status offences.  They may also hear cases of other behavioural problems.  This is offered to first time youth offenders, giving them a second chance through restorative justice, peer accountability and empowering opportunities.  This program is offered to youths that appear to be heading towards the Juvenile justice system as a deterrent towards that goal 

Youth Courts help not only the youthful offender but also those in grades 8-12 that are interested in law, public speaking, business, or social work and considering such as a career choice.

Representation:

• Offenders are represented by Youth Attorneys who have been trained in prosecution techniques and defense techniques by attorneys.  They must pass a “Bar” examination before they can proceed.
• Sentence:
• Sentences are designed to hold the youth accountable in a meaningful, restorative manner and shall not be demeaning or malicious
