"WE CARE" PROJECT

About Us

WE CARE PROJECT

MISSION

To assist and empower people, to become contributing, productive

members of the community in which they live, by providing food, resources, and faith to build a stronger community.

VISION

A well-nourished community

Core Values: Generosity, Caring, Compassion, Respect, and Community.

Since the COVID-19 Pandemic, we have run the “We Care” project to

serve and support home-bound seniors, the homeless, single parents, and the needy for the past six years.  The project aims to serve those who cannot get to a store, have limited access to much-needed sanitizing products, food, and resources and help slow down the COVID-19 pandemic. We acknowledge that many local resources cannot reach everyone, and these assist in closing the gap. We are a non-profit, 501c3 project/program.

We serve communities throughout Norfolk, Virginia with over three hundred recipients once a week (Tuesdays). We provide this service at:

Burning Bush Worship Center

405 Pendleton Street

Norfolk, VA 23523

Every Tuesday, 8:00 am to 2:00 pm

We accomplish this through the generous donations of churches, the Food Bank of Southeastern Va., Norfolk Parks Recreation and Open Spaces, Norfolk School Board and City Council members, Individual citizens of North Carolina, Norfolk, and Virginia Beach, and or major supporter - The Pamunkey Indians. If you wish to read about our efforts, please see the Virginia Pilot on March 25th for the article entitled “Helpers- Volunteers step up to feed the needy on Norfolk’s South Side.”

If you need food and are having difficulty securing the necessary food for the health and well-being of your family, we can assist you, please contact us. The only requirement is that you complete a form for our records.

Thank You.

WE BELIEVE..........

  • In a foundation of Faith and place Faith at the center of everything we do.

  • That food is a right and not a privilege.

  • In nourishing our community in body, mind, and spirit.

  • In creating a servant-hearted community the opportunity to serve is a gift.

  • In the culture of building up one another and our community.

  • In working together to end hunger and build a stronger community.

In March, "We Care" The Virginia-Pilot Newspaper recognized the project as The Helpers: Volunteers who feed the needy on Norfolk's South Side.
