Our Mission Statement
The Manna Backpack organization aims to feed the children in the Chesapeake schools. We realize that more than fifty (50) children are not getting enough to eat.

Manna Backpack Food Ministry, a Burning Bush Worship Center subsidiary, was established to feed the children who do not have access to food on weekends or school breaks.
The program is sponsored by the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore. They provide the food and backpacks and select the school that needs a sponsor.
The requirement is to sponsor a minimum of 50 children for two years.
The backpacks contain non-perishable foods that will help supplement a family in need. Each child receives eighteen (18) bags of food per school year and there is no limit to a household.
To sponsor one child is $108.00 per school year.
Nutrition affects a child’s cognitive, social, and emotional development. Children who do not get the nutritious food their bodies need are more likely to have problems learning, growing, and interacting.
The bags are packed by Volunteers of Burning Bush, delivered to the school, and distributed to the children at the end of the day on Fridays by the school counselor. Each child receives a bag twice a month. There is no cost to the parent or the school. The program runs from September to June of each school year.
